A FEW WORDS OR MORE FROM CHRIS:
It’s quite unreal to think that we’re on the home straight to this thing being in your hands as I type this. We’re so close, I can actually see the other side now!! We certainly didn’t plan on it coming out 13 years after we co-wrote the song “Master Of My Own Destiny” in 1998, but sometimes life happens, good and bad, and not everything you plan goes exactly the way you intended it.The reality is that the final copy that’s coming out in 2011 is so much more than what would have come out in the late 90′s / early 00′s, with more mature writing, better performances, and more of the kickarse guests that we’ve teamed up with (some of these guys and gals we didn’t actually know back then), so for that I’m definitely glad that you’ll hear it in this form!!It’s something we’re totally proud of, and something that we’ll be looking back on years from now and going “haha what a great time that was” I’m sure, and that has been a goal in recent years with any music I’m involved with.Big big thanks to the supporters we have (hopefully we can refer to you guys as “fans” once your hear the music), and to all the involved musicians, and the old faithful team from my “Pieces Of Eternity” album, Stew / Jake, and also Dan with the artwork. To Richard, WOW mate!!!! We finally did it!!!!!!! YEAH!!!!!!! \m/- Chris Szkup

- “Over The Mountain”
Well here we are…!?!
….2 years down the track from when Chris emailed me to say “hey dude I think we should re-visit some of those old tunes….”….!?!
And what an amazing 2 years it has been, going through the archives and digging up some of the old material we’d co-written and hadn’t been able to finish for all sorts of shit reasons.
We had so much fun working on “It’d Be Rude Not To” (admittedly there was a lot of hard work going on!), a lot of the fun stuff came from hooking up with friends old and new and working these songs into what they should be. And another highlight for me was writing new material – actually being in the same room with Chris was a huge deal as we’d planned for years to hook up and have a few beers, singing “Slackers & Wankers” live was another thrill that I will never forget (and singing it at Chris’ parents place with his brother changing the words was one of the funniest things I have ever experienced!, great times worth repeating… anytime lads!)
Teamwork and friendships explored, that’s what The Feckers experience has been all about. Luckily we have really talented friends who were willing to go that extra mile (and risk their reputations?) to see to it that this vision of completing this album was a reality.
I must take the time to acknowledge Chris, Dennis, Stew & Jake for helping with all the technical stuff and for keeping the mood up to a professional standard – having to make the decisions these guys have had to make, it isn’t always a easy thing, yet these guys carried themselves with the most outstanding dedication to their craft….and without them the world would be a much duller place!
What you’re going to hear on “It’d Be Rude Not To” is a musical journey…sometimes going for jaunts to several other worlds all within the one song! I am amused by how we have been able to dabble with genre-hopping in some places and dared to go to places that we might not necessarily be thought of heading to (the music was always leading us places!!) - that’s what I love so much about The Feckers, the unpredictable nature of things, nothing is ever sterile here or forced, the songs flow and the magic that everyone’s bought to proceedings leaves a big smile on my fecking dial!
So thanks to one and all who have contributed in some way – all the singers, muso’s, engineer’s – those that have made the album and those who appear on bonus material (and those who’s tracks were never completed), you’re all part of this adventure (which I look forward to the next chapter of!), THANK YOU doesn’t seem nearly enough!
I am so proud that our DREAM has come true and that The Feckers is finally a reality!?!
